AUTHENTIC GOLF

Everyone has physical or biomechanical flaws that adversely affect the way they play golf. These can manifest themselves as an inconsistency of swing, variations in club speed and power, fatigue, back and/or neck pain and a general feeling of uneasiness and/or frustration.

Physical Performance Evaluation

A golfer's physical characteristics have a direct relationship on their swing fundamentals. physical impairments can restrict development of these fundamentals. The lack of appropriate posturing and control will dramatically decrease a golfer's ability to produce a consistent golf swing.

We have developed a unique methodology for improving golf performance. We utilize an integrated approach of 6-D research system equipment, professional knowledge of golf and physical therapy. In most cases, established physical therapy techniques provide a fix for these flaws, however we have affiliations with orthopedists, sports medicine physicians and a wide range of therapists to ensure betterment of these issues.

At your comprehensive examination we will evaluate the following:

1. Strength

Strength plays a vital role in the golf swing. Muscular strength is essential in maintaining proper spinal posture during the swing. weakness or muscular imbalance will create excess stress on the body and cause compensations in your swing. These compensations will reduce your consistency and increase your risk of serious injury.

We will be able to accurately assess your strength and provide a comprehensive structured program to improve your identified weaknesses. This training will allow you to maintain the correct positioning required throughout the swing.

2. Flexibility & Joint Motion

Flexibility and muscle imbalance are starting points in the physical training necessary for golf. flexibility is the key to achieving and maintaining a normal arc of motion throughout the golf swing. Restrictions in flexibility or muscle imbalance will require the golfer to alter his or her swing, increasing the potential for poor performance and injury

We will provide you with a comprehensive structured program to restore your flexibility and allow you to attain correct positioning required.

3. Balance

Standing balance is a major influence throughout the entire golf swing. golfers with poor balance experience a breakdown in consistency of contact. Balance requires use of vision along with vestibular (inner ear workings) and proprioceptive (muscle length receptors) inputs. insufficient balance will restrict a golfer's weight shifts, which are inherent in completing a powerful and fundamentally correct swing.

We will provide you with a specific training program to improve your balance. the program will assist you in developing increased consistency and accuracy.

4. Posture & Spinal Mobility

Proper posture throughout the golf swing helps to decrease stresses on the spinal column. Loss of proper spinal positioning complicates the swing by increasing the number of moving segments thus amplifying the demands in timing and coordination placed on the body. Poor posture through the swing not only decreases your consistency but may lead to serious injury.

We will complete a detailed mapping of your current posture and spinal alignment. This will allow us to design a program specifically tailored to your needs in order to increase your spinal mobility and posture. This training will allow you to attain the correct positioning required while prolonging your spinal health to allow years of golfing enjoyment.

3-D Golf Swing Analysis

Physical as well as learned impairments affect every shot in golf from driving to putting. Our 3-D Golf Swing Analysis helps us accurately assess your swing by reviewing your positioning and movement patterns. We are then able to identify swing flaws and what is causing them. If physical limitations are discovered, we as physical therapists are your best choice for a solution. Continuation of your current golf program may only compound a physical problem or make it worse.

We use highly advanced computer technology to biomechanically evaluate your golf swing through appropriate posturing and correct movement patterns. Our software application uses a real-time motion capture analysis that displays 3-dimension, six degrees of freedom motion for the biomechanics of the golf swing in virtual reality.  This analysis represents an unparalleled data stream of information that is consistent, reproducible and accurate within 1/100th of a degree.
